Another Hot, Sunny and Relaxing Day

Today has been very relaxing, with little planned but a day at the beach.  We woke up pretty early but still not early enough to beat the heat for a morning run.  We still tried to run along the beach but, geez, was it hard!  Bryan struggled through most of the run and I was exhausted by the end of 20 minutes.  Between the heat, humidity, and the deep sand, it was a tough run.

We finally set foot on Lover's Beach and Divorce Beach this afternoon. Our water taxi was very efficient for getting us there and picking us up after a couple of hours out there.  The beach is practically undisturbed, which is the most amazing thing in a world where it seems every great beach or natural beauty has been exploited with tourism.  Watching the waves of the Pacific crash against the shore really shows you just how powerful that water can be.  Because of this, we aren't allowed to swim on that side - you could end up in Alaska if you tried!

The beach is dispersed in amongst some beautiful rock formations that contain a number of fossilizations.  There are small caves and crevasses throughout the rocks to explore, and the sand just sits invitingly around.  The water on the harbour side was so warm - I have never been anywhere that the ocean water is warmer than the pool at the hotel, but it sure is that way here.  I couldn't get enough of swimming in the ocean so I spent over 30 minutes just treading water and watching boats and waves.  It was so relaxing.

We had a nap after we returned - I think Bryan got a bit too much sun.  He's turning a slightly red color along his shoulders so tomorrow he'll have to be careful.  Otherwise, it was just exhausting spending so much time in the sun.

Dinner tonight was at The Office, right down on the beach.  That place is always hopping - it seems to draw in people from all over town and from various resorts for dinners.  There is entertainment going on, theme nights and, of course, an amazing view.  The full moon tonight cast an even more special glow across our table.  There is something about a full moon shining down along the water, lighting up the night.  I absolutely love experiencing that!

Portion sizes here are enormous.  Bryan and I have been ordering our own meals at each restaurant only to get through about half on our own.  I don't know why we don't just share something!  I'm pretty sure his meal alone could have fed 3 people!  The food was awesome, but I hate wasting so much.

Just like in Italy, we got our drinks, food, and any other requests fast - when it comes to getting the bill, however, it takes forever here.  You wait and wait, and often have to ask twice.  We've noticed a few oddities in currency conversions and we have questioned a few items on our bills.  If you don't watch carefully, you may get charged for more items than you ordered or be charged way more in currency conversion rates than you should.  Average seems to be about 13% but one place was 25%!

And, finally, some pictures of our week!
